Many people want to know what fat burners to take to lose fat or what protein powder will help build the most muscle. My answer every time? Food. That’s right. Real whole food is the best thing you can put into your body to help lose fat and gain muscle. Complex carbohydrates, meats, eggs, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Whole grains, and I don’t mean pre-packaged foods with claims of containing whole grains, I mean whole grains. I mean brown rice, quinoa, steel cut oats, barley… you get the picture! Protein from sources like chicken, beef, eggs or fish. Healthy fats from avocados, nuts, and seeds. The more of those things you eat and the less processed foods you eat the better your body will respond to exercise.
You may have heard the saying, “You can’t out exercise a bad diet.” Well, it’s true! Proper nutrition can not only help you burn fat and build muscle, but help with gut health and digestion, skin tone, brain function, and a plethora of other things. Figuring out where to start can be difficult, so just start small. I would suggest cutting out sugar to start, then go from there. Or, of course you could hire your favorite personal trainer to help you!
…Now, where’s my fork? It’s time to eat!
